Valentine's Day Dinner At Home

Every year on Valentines Day, I take my girlfriend to a nice restaurant.  This usually requires searching for a nice place we haven't been to, and booking at least 5 days in advance.  After braving the weather and crowds, it always ends up being a nice romantic evening out.  This year, we decided to have valentines day dinner at home.  I am not a good cook, far from it,  but I was willing to cook an entire 4 course meal, but thankfully my girlfriend offered to cook two dishes while I do another two.  This was our valentine's dinner at home:

Random Rants: The Bradbury

The Bradbury Building

If you visited L.A. you've probably walked right passed it.  Nestled between a Subway restaurant and Sprint Mobile store is one of the most interesting buildings in America. It's the place where OJ bought the murder weapon, and  the place where androids come to die, its called the Bradbury Building.

News from comic con

Fan Boys and Girls go crazy today over the leaked images from a teaser of the new Superman vs Batman flick. In Hall H of San Diego Comic Con Warner Brothers revealed a short clip showing Ben Affleck in Batman armor straight from the pages of Frank Miller's The DarkKnight Returns

The Papercraft Jeep Build

I pulled this box out of my basement and discovered it was a long lost unfinished project of mine.
Back in 2008 I started building this paper model of a jeep from my favorite video game "Warhawk".  It was my first paper-craft project, and I had it at 70% complete, when I was interrupted when I moved apartments. It was packed away for the move and I guess never unpacked. Now 6 years later, I've decided to try to complete the project.

Here's where I left off in 6 years ago .....

Camera Noob

Recently got a hand-me down camera. It's a 10 mega pixels Sony Alpha 230.  Although smart phones and instagram take great photos these days, trying your hand at a SLR (Single Lens Reflex - I just learned that) camera is a whole other world.

I googled some basics such as Aperture, Shutter, ISO, and got some tips from HT and off I went.

The Rocketeer Build

July 15 2014

In 1991 Disney Released The Rocketeer. The movie was a failure at the box office despite some notable stars such as Jennifer Connelly and James Bond himself Timothy Dalton.

What I loved about the movie was the pre digital age special effects and character design.
The Rocketeer himself wore a 1930's aviation jacket and a late Art Deco styled helmet.
